Sustainability Policy Statement

Sustainable development is the meeting of four objectives, all at the same time, in the UK and Globally, - Social Progress which recognises the Needs of Everyone;

  • Effective Protection of the Environment
  • Prudent Use of Natural Resources
  • Maintenance of high and stable levels of Economic Growth and Employment.

(A better quality of life: a strategy for sustainable development for the UK, DETR May 1999)

ITSL intends meeting the above criteria BY

  • Improving an Individuals Resilience, that is the ability to respond positively to change and recover
  • effectively from unforeseen setbacks by giving them the unfettered and unbiased support and understanding of their peers and by improving their Wellbeing by providing an environment in which to work which gives them a high degree of Freedom and an unrestricted opportunity to develop. This will be monitored and measured for its effectiveness through our Staff Appraisal System.
  • Acting to limit or prevent our individual and corporate actions and our way of life from impacting detrimentally on the environment. We will analyse our business processes in transforming our engineering competencies into workable designs and products to minimise energy consumption and waste generation. The individual contributing to the process will be made aware of how their own use of resources in terms of Transport, Heating, Lighting, Water and Air along with their selection and use of Materials in the business processes can be modified to make the company more efficient whilst becoming less of a burden on the environment. This will be monitored through our ISO14001 procedures.
  • Implementing Sustainable Procurement for Goods & Services on a whole life basis to not only obtain value for money for the organisation but benefits for Society and the Environment we all live in. The use of Natural Resources can be categorised as Renewable & Finite. As an organisation we will strive to only utilise renewable products and services in our operations as they can be replaced and last indefinitely. For non-renewable resources which cannot be produced, grown, generated, or used on a scale which can sustain its consumption rate we will monitor and control our use of these finite resources especially Fuels. We will actively recycle all materials used in our production processes and selectively purchase more eco-friendly products to lessen our impact on the planet. Strategically we will implement Sustainable Procurement for Goods & Services on a whole life basis to not only obtain value for money for the organisation but benefits for Society and the Environment we all live in. This will be monitored through our ISO14001 procedures.
  • Ensuring ITSL is financially stable to give a solid base on which to secure long term employment and address the needs of the market for our services. This will be achieved by continuous re- investment of monies generated by the employees in the business not only in terms of self -financing of growth but in rewarding everybody for their efforts. The effect of this will be to increase the living standards of the individuals employed thus making ITSL an employer of note, respected and needed by the community in which we are geographically located.
  • This will be monitored using our Business Plan which defines the company's overall objectives.

By being a business built on strong sustainable foundations we can play our part in securing the long term aspirations of our employees, their families and those around us both now and into the future.
